close to a million dollars. They do a special
holiday distribution each year for organi-
zations that serve food. The Rotary Club
also has additional efforts to support or-
ganizations overseas.

United Way of
Meriden-Wallingford

The United Way does so much for our
community and has for many years. I had
the pleasure of serving on the United Way
board for several years. Every year around
the holiday season it connects donors
with organizations in town to coordinate
Adopt-a-Family, Giving Tree, and Thanks-
giving baskets. It also does an annual
hygiene products drive and coordinates
the Stamp Out Hunger mail carriers food
drive and helps connect volunteers with
nonprofits. Its Power Up program helps
unemployed and underemployed individ-
uals become more self-sufficient by con-
necting them with jobs and education. It
also helps them access other necessary
services, such as child care, mental health
support, food, substance abuse support,
and more.
