(1852-1940). Comments I discovered
during my research of this item often
explained that a woman would not be
able to see her feet, let alone fix her
    petticoat.

    A fascinating vintage fold-out postcard
book, also known as a "trap door" post- CELEBRATE WALLINGFORD!
card book, features various views of
Wallingford in 1905. This souvenir post-
card was sent from Wallingford by Hazel
Smith to Mrs. Cora B. Smith in Suffield
on October 9, 1907. Multiple Walling-
ford images are presented in this fold-
    ed, accordion-style format. Some of
the historical buildings featured are the
Simpson Block & Opera House, Dutton
    Park Monument, the (original) Public
    Library and various downtown scenes.
You might wonder who Cora and Hazel
Smith are. Little information was dis-
covered but a future article might tell
    us more.

All these unique pieces can be found
at the Franklin Johnson Mansion with
many more to be discovered. Open
